1-17 km: Good. Average pace was roughly between 5:10 and 5:15 min/km.
18-22 km: Not best. Average pace about 5:40 min/km. I have tried to think different reasons for this hurting hip, but again, it just needs heavy stretching.

Tip: I found a way how to keep running even hip begins to sense strained: do longer steps and run with your hip by twisting it (disclaimer: not a medical advice). My discover helped that much, that instead of two stars I gave free for this run!

Do you have your own stretching and running tips for a strained hip?

Pros:
  • Relatively good run for the first 17 kilometers. I was feeling good and hip didn't bother.
Cons:
  • Relatively inconvenient for the last four kilometers. Still strained hip. It needs some heavy stretching.

5 km: Running was very easy and speed was OK. Hip started to bother again. I was about to run about 15 km, but I realized I have to make it shorter.
10 km: I should have had run still one kilometer more, but I really had to stop because of a hip, stop the timer and walk the rest.

I got some kind of hip strain on Thursday and it still bothered a little. That’s why I run a little shorter route and in the woods to get some variation to the steps.

Running a route in the woods. That’s why average speed is quite low, but quite nice. It was getting dark already, but I’m familiar with the route.

I got a muscle strain on the shoulder couple weeks ago, and I run two half marathons with that – also the fastest one. Sure that wasn’t so vise and that’s why I kept a little pause, but no it’s OK.

4.11.2011 21.13 km

Distance Duration Avg. Pace Avg. Speed
21.13 km 1:44:49 h:m:s 4:58 min/km 12.00 km/h

Yeay! Goal achieved! My half marathon goal was to beat 1 h 45 min and, well well, I did it in 1:44:49. I was just running on my own for fun, so sure, this is an unofficial record, but it’s good enough for me.

I’m sorry, but there won’t be any great winning story here. The run was steady, fast and relative easy from the start to finish. But quite fun ride it was.

  • 2 km: Already during the first kilometers I knew this is going to be a good run.
  • 5 km: Uphill, uphill, but have to keep going…
  • 6.5 km: Ok, one trouble ahead. Some abdominal tingling, but only for a while.
  • 7.5 km: Two bikers passed by with a speed.
  • 8.7 km: Heh, uphill and two bikers passed by by me – same two.
  • 12.1 km: Passing a pet pig. Something I don’t see every day.
  • 18 km: All the way very good and steady pace 5 min/km.
  • 21.1 km: Last three kilometers where tougher, but finally there with a little sprint at the end. I’m feeling quite good after the run.

I think the next goal for a half marathon will be to beat 1 h 30 min.

Yeay!
